Walking Blues project description:

“What follows is a small selection from Walking Blues, my ever-expanding collection of found photographs. I have coveted others’ lost or discarded pictures for over two decades. The collection includes hundreds of photographs of strangers and their pets, vacations, babies, bedrooms, parties, husbands, and wives. As evidenced by their quality in this excerpt, the majority of these images weren’t purchased or gleaned from thrift store bins. By and large, they were found close to home—while riding my bike, perusing copy shop trashcans, peering beneath the lids of supermarket photo scanners, walking through parking lots, riding trains…

I am drawn to these images not only because of the thrill of the find, but also the thrill of a view into the worlds of people I don’t know.”

I believe that the Walking Blues project is a perfection in editing and sequencing found photographs taken by other, unknown people.

Photographs from the tin box

20th century is recorded, thanks to photography. Piles of photos are stored in family’s tin boxes, creating a kind of an archive. I believe that act of storing the image has many consequences on the way we understand ourselves and our life.

After the Second World War photography became a medium of the masses and almost everyone participated, if one was not taking pictures, he was at least posing for one.

Thoughts on “A fictive story” experiment!

From the first moment I signed into the flicker account, I realised it is a useful tool. I would define myself as a lazy kind of photographer, shooting only about 50 to 70 rolls of film yearly. Since you can spend an awful lot of time, energy and money I find photography hard to do. But I still love it. What’s the point? So many great vernacular photos have already been made and for that reason I find my photographic work sometimes useless. About two weeks ago, when we seriously started our project Ena rola filma, I thought of a way, how to use other’s people photos to create new series. A completed body of work, with false story and with manipulated meanings of original images.
